Camera Operator

Duties

The duties of a Camera Operator involve making sure cameras and other important equipment are ready to be set up. They must be able to operate one of several cameras capturing images at the same time by using a variety of shots which involve receiving the camera directions from the Director. On most programmes, a team of camera operators are led by either a camera senior or a camera supervisor so team work is required while working as a camera operator. The supervisors are also responsible for overseeing the work of the camera operators and assistants working on the studio floor, the outside broadcast or the location.

Skills
  • Good knowledge of camera techniques 
  • good eye for detail when planning and rehearsing 
  • being able to multi task by following a camera script and taking instructions from either the Director or the Floor Manager
Qualification
You will not need specific qualifications for this job role because you will learn through experience while working on the job but should have basic camera skills. Having a media degree can help.



Sound Mixing

Duties

Sound Mixers are responsible for recording all of the sounds for the programme and mixing sound sources like sound effects.They are also responsible for setting up the sound equipment before recording.

Qualification
your specific qualification will not needed however you will need to show an interest in sound and that you understand it physically. 



Vision Mixing

Duties
Vision Mixers have the duties of editing programmes and using different varieties of transformation methods for example cuts, frame, wipe and mixes. They work on programmes transmitted live or recorded live. They also work on pre-recorded programmes in multi-camera environmental studios or outside broadcasts. They also work with directors explain the meaning of a script and discussing which transition shot should be required then used or not.Vision mixers should also be aware capabilities and limitations of different mixing decks and suggesting ways for the director to use them.

Duties
As a person Directing they are responsible of sound production and technical standards. They are also in charge of controlling the full operations of filming and are responsible for the look of the sound of the production. They also work with closely with producers and writers and being fully aware of putting original ideas into their finished programmes. They must be responsible to make sure their final programmes, stuck to the original plan they came up with. They must make careful preparations so they can make sure that each shoot is a success and must have clear visions of the product and what is required to finish it.

Set Designer

Duties
As a Set Designer you are responsible for creation of the look of the theater, television, or film production. In the film and TV industry they are know as production designers and stage designers while in theater. You would also as a designer to be creative because you would need to vivid and imaginative while creating your set of the theater and what you want it to look like. You would also need good communicating skills because there might be times when you would need to work in a group and share ideas and communicate with people.

Qualification
You don't need to have qualification for this job role because you might be able to get in without one but you will need a degree of a HND from a lesson that's art related. 



Lighting Technician

Duties
As a Lighting Technician you are responsible for the lighting for the live events for example TV or in film production. As a lighting technician you might be working either outside on location or inside the studio on set. They need to good at setting up lighting and operating the lights during the production. They put the equipment up at the beginning of the production then when the production is over they take it all down and safely put it away for the next production.

  • practical skills 
Qualification
You don't need a degree for this job role because you will only need them for the technical side of it for example lighting design or technology.



Floor Manager

Duties
As Floor Manager you are the stage designer of the television production and a member of staff while in a large store of supervisors and designers. They check if the props and equipment is safe and if the sets are ready to use. They also check if the filming equipment is in the correct position and ready to use for filming. They help guests who have been invited to the show because some of the guests might rehearse at their shows before the live public performance. They another reason why they check the filming equipment is to make sure it's up and running before the show.

Broadcast Graphic Design

In Broadcast Graphic Design you're creating graphics with electronic media in the television making. They are self-taught in software because they might need to create content and they also create the look or the feeling of a idea/subject. They will often hired by a designer group of a advert of their product because their skills are going to be useful for a television commercial. Boradcast graphic designers create graphic designs that are also used the by software or hardware design.

you won't need a pacific qualification for this job role however you will need a bachelor's degree in either bachelor of  arts or fine arts.



VT Operator

A VT Operator is when you record and play back the sound of it to see if it perfect or not. They could use this in either a live production or a editing session.. They must require knowledge of recording systems because they might need it when there working in a recording season. there might be a situation where might need to act quickly because they can be demanding and might what to require a high level of coordination, a fast set of hands and quick thinking when working on a recording system. They need to use a verity of recording systems because they need it case they are working with more than one person.

  • must be able to use a verity of record and playback systems 
Qualification
You won't need a qualification for this job role because there are no entry requirements. However what many be relevant for this job role is either a HNC or a HND.

Presenter

Duties
As a Presenter you host and introduce the live shows your presenting in. They are also responsible for the public event and can be presenting in a range of different locations for example they can host in an exhibit or in films except that presenter you may not the host but you are the executive producer of the film making process for a larger audience. They also handle the businesses and the legal problems for example copyright or royalties in case they might of a idea that has already been used.

You might not need a qualification for this specific job role because having the right skills and experience would be more important for this job role. As you move up you will be learning new skills in broadcasting.
