Production Reflection 4

What duties did you perform this week in your job role
This week I worked on the graphics that I have chosen for my music show and made the, branded the names them on Powerpoint. I also worked on the ending credits for my music show. I made them with my own chosen animations and transitions on Powerpoint slides. On live day I was working behind the graphics of the live show. I was controlling the opening sequence, name sequence and ending credits.

What has been successful this week
What I find that has been successful this week would be designing the ending credits for the live show. Another thing that has been successful this week would learning how to set the graphics on screen at the correct moment.

What could you have changed or developed and why
If I could change anything I would change the way I worked in the recording studio on live day. Because of me zoning while on working behind the graphics and sometimes missing the chances on when to set the graphics up on screen I ended up getting a pass. Yes I am not proud of me zoning out and not getting a merit but in the end I just learn't to deal with it I mean (sigh) If I pass then I pass and if I fail then I fail. Another thing that I would try to develop is my grade because I was trying to get a merit when really I ended up getting a pass. Yes they may say pass is good but to me a pass is still losing. The only reason why I messed up the final time (for the real thing) was because the director cut screen the to early and I wasn't able to set two of my graphics in time.

How did you work with you team this week. Was your work effective
Working with my team and the director (Chloe) was once again another effective success because she gave out simple and straight forward instructions that my team in the recording studio were were able to understand. Another reason why it was effective was because I manged to get the timing correctly after I learn't how to set the graphics on screen right because if I didn't get it right then I would of either needed more practice or failed my course work.

How would you judge your performance on live day. Explain your answer with examples from your day
I would give my performance from live day a 5 out of 10 because I didn't think did very well due to my performance and me zoning out and setting the graphics on screen at the wrong time for example. However I learn't how to get it for for the live show (live recording) because after going through about...maybe four or five rehearsals and being focused on the screen at all times I learn't how to set the graphics on screen at the perfect time for the live show.

Final Script-Grapics

Production meeting Reflection 3

What duties have you performed this week in your job role.
This week I made and finished off the opening sequence on Powerpoint for my music show. I also had to add in images, animations and transitions to make it stand out more. Then afterwards I had to explain, in a paragraph the meaning behind the colour, typography, images, layout and the meaning why made the tile logo like this.

What has been successful this week
What I find that has been successful this week would be finishing of the opening sequence for my music show on Powerpoint and then uploading it from One drive to blogger. Another thing that has been successful would be the filming of me being recorded for presenting out the parts of my script for the history of hip-hop.

What do you need to change or develop and why
One of the things I needed to change was the music notes on my logo because, before they were in black and I wasn't surpost to use blue or black. I also had to add some changes to my opening sequence in Powerpoint because the opening had the backgrounds on each slide but it didn't have any images of any celebrities/artists for it.

What do you intend to do next week
What I intend to do next week is to work on the graphics that I have chosen for the show. I am also going to be working on the ending credits because they said it needs credits for the outro of the show for next week.

What did you intend to do with your team this week was it effective
What I found that was effective was working with the director because when I was working on the opening sequence I understood what type of images she wanted me to add to the Powerpoint. Another thing that has been successful this week was working with Kori, Keway and Jack for the recording of my History of Hip-Hop script because, although it took a few minutes to get the one of the parts of my script right we managed to get the filming done in the end.

Script for History of Hip Hop

Hi my name is Omar, I am from London and I'm going to be talking about the history of hip-hop.

Late 80s
The song 'I'm bad' by ll cool j is a classic hip-hop video from the late 1980s. I find this video unique because I like the way it was made and I like the parts when ll cool j starts dancing in the video. Another reason why I like the video is because I like the part when LL and his crew of friends team up against the gang that has kidnapped his girlfriend in the beginning of the video.

Early 90s
The song 'The crossover' by EPMD is a classic hip-hop video from the early 1990s. I find this music video inspiring because I like the way the song sounds and how unique Eric sermons voice is while rapping. The reason why I like Eric sermons voice is because no other rap artist can copy it. I also like the way the video cuts to the audio waves and then cuts back to a different scene in the video.

Late 90s
The song 'The message' by Nas is another classic hip-hop video but from the late 1990s. I find the video interesting because it shows how it represents the ghetto life and how some people struggling in rough neighborhoods and projects in Brooklyn. The reason why I like the song is because it shows how Nas can tell a stories not just about his life but how he got to where he is today through his songs and how you can visualize it in your head while listening.

Early 2000s
The song 'The way I am' by Eminem is one of the hip-hop classic song but from the early 2000s. I find this video interesting because it shows how he expresses anger though his songs. Another reason why I find the video inspiring is because it shows the difference between himself and his alter ego Slim shady while in his music video and his songs.

Late 2000s
The song 'Stronger' by Kanye west is another one classics but from the late 2000s. The reason why I find this video inspiring is because I like the way the music video made and set in tokyo and how it was made in a futuristic type of theme. Another reason why I like the video is because I like the way Kanye was dressed in the video because it shows that he has his own unique style of fashion for example his sun shaped glasses.

2010s
The song 'Airplanes' by B.o.B is another classic hip-hop video but from the early 2010s. The reason why I like this song is because it shows where b.o.b was at the time and when getting introduced to the music scene. Another reason why I like this song is because it named the video of the year in 2010 and it also has a part 2 version feating Eminem saying what his life would be like if they never became rappers.

Opening Sequence

This is the opening sequence we are going use for our music programme. The reason why I chose this is because it's the way I imaged it. I used these backgrounds because I visualized the hand in the shape of a fist but in space then as it zooming it forms into an open hand and reveals the logo of the show. The reason why I chose these certain images of these celebrities is because I thought it would go well with the opening sequence and with the content of the show. I was unsure with the idea at first but after I tried it I got used to it. After I found the right images I added in some animation techniques to make them stand out more during the intro. The reason why I chose the animations is because I thought it would be good idea because I didn't want the intro to look boring and I wanted it to look entertaining.

Ident

This is the Ident that I created for the music programme 'Feel the Music'. I created and finished this logo in fireworks the same way the presenter pitched it. Before I created this in fireworks, I did a drawing of it on paper. I then scanned it to the computer and edited it in fireworks. Afterwards, I showed it to Mr Phillipson, he liked it but he told me that I couldn't use black so I decided to use gold music notes and a gold out line for the hand. I then showed it to Chloe (the director) and she said that she wanted a red background to go with the colour theme of the show. The reason why I wanted to keep the idea of the music notes in the logo is so that it is easily recognizable that it is a music show. The hand shows actions to the title and the colour gold makes it stand out. I picked this typography because I felt like it fits in well with the logo, it is not too harsh and looks welcoming.

Production Meeting Reflection 2

What key points did you make this week within your role
This week I worked on the TV logo for our music programme. Then in the meeting I showed my class and explained I how I made and came up with it. I thought of the logo by looking at Chole's TV logo and Yanick's TV logo. Afterwards explained how I combined the two ideas together and made the logo with the music notes from Chole's logo and the hand with the feel the music title from Yanick's logo on fireworks.

What was the Group's response to your ideas and progress
What the group liked about my idea was the way the title logo looked and the way it was designed on fireworks. During the week the director (Chole) told me the design the title logo for our music TV programme. She also asked me to add more detail to my title logo and to play a role as a celebrity on the TV programme talking about to history hip-hop.

What has been successful this week
The only things that has been successful this week was designing the title logo for the music programme and finishing it off on the computer in fireworks. Another thing that has been successful this week was learning to use fireworks and drawing the logo on paper and completing the logo on fireworks in time.

What do you need to change or develop and why
What I need to change was to add more colour to my title logo and to be able to explain more detail about the title logo because although they said it looked good in white and gold I thought that it could use a bit more colour to make it stand out more, apart from explaining how I came up with the idea for the logo I wasn't able to explain it fully when we hand our class production meeting on Friday.

What do you intend to do next week
What I plan to do as part of my role next week is to work on my logo. If I don't need to work on it then I would be working on my script for my role as a celebrity on the show explaining the history of hip-hop on the TV programme.

How did you work with the person who was in charge this week and how was it effective
Working with Chole as the director was successful because I was able to understand what she wanted me to do for the TV programme. The meeting on Friday was also a success because I was able to write a list of what danger hazards could happen while working as a camera operator in the studio. I was also able to show my logo in the class meeting to see if they liked it or not and what I needed to change on the title logo.

Production Meeting Reflection 1

How was the production meeting run
The meeting was run in our media class during lesson time. We pitched our ideas round the conference table. After we said our pitch we asked questions on our idea and filled out a table of questions. Afterwards we were given a voting sheet and told who we wanted to vote for and why. We then handed our voting sheet to Mr Phillipson.

What was the group's response to your idea
What the group liked about my idea was the title logo of my of my TV programme because the way I drew it myself and the fact that I didn't need to design it on the computer. My U.S.P was the title and the idea when I included the dance off near at the end of the show.

Whose idea did you vote for
I voted for the idea S.L.U.M Studio Live Urban Music.

What did you like about the idea
What I liked about the way he spelled the title S.L.U.M because I liked the way it was spelled out in abbreviation. I also liked the way it sounds because I saw it as a good and unique idea and it sounded like something that no one else had come up with. I also like the way it included the interactivity with the audience sending in videos of them either rapping or singing because that way they can express their talent.

What aspects related to the brief
What the chosen idea related to the brief was the fact that it was 30 minutes long and it was a music magazine show that the viewers can enjoy in half an hour. It also inculeded the audience interacting with the celebrities by sending in videos of them rapping or singing. There will also be a dance complition at the end where will be a dance off with the celebrity guests against one of the members of the audience.

What areas did you think needed development
I didn't think that the idea I chosen didn't need any development or improvement because I thought it was perfectly fine just the way it was so I didn't think it needed to be changed whatsoever.

What other ideas did people have that you think could be incorporated into the final idea
The ideas that I would like to add would be as well as people sending videos of them rapping and singing I thought they can send in videos of them dancing. Another idea that I would like to add would be the audience calling in from Skype from the title Turn't Up and the idea from Feel the music where the presenters can actually talk to people in the street.

Treatment for multi-camera TV programme

Programme format
The music magazine programme is going to start of live with the opening and end with the title of the show. The show is going to start off with the two presenters introducing themselves and then telling the audience what they have in store for today's show. Then one of the presenters will introduce either one or two of today's celebrities. The show starts off with the first presenter showing the music chart of the latest music videos that has came out this month then after each one of them the second presenter has an interview with each of the directors. The celebrities will have to run a question fire round and then after the mini obstacle the show will go on a 2 minute break.

After the the break the celebrities will have a (prerecorded) interview asked by the second presenter and one of the members of the audience. After the interview there's going to be a music quiz which is going to be questions asked by the 2 presenters of the show. After the quiz there is going to be a dance off where one of the celebrities will have to dance against one of the presenters to the song of their choice to end the show. The show is going to be like Friday download because it shows one of the most latest music and there's even a part in the show where one of the presenters do a dance performance like in dance download. Another reason why it's going to be like Friday download is because it is colourful, lively and sometimes energetic.

Title of show

The tile of my show is going to be Music Central because it is a TV programme based on the latest music singles and music videos of the month. I was thinking of calling my show Hip-Hop Central because it could be related to the latest rap and hip-hop videos out this month. I also have another idea for when the celebrities come through the studio door the song 'hip-hop hooray' will be playing the background as they arrive. This would appeal to the audience because they would be into music. Another reason why this might appeal to the audience is because they might want to see their favorite celebrity on TV or if their favorite music videos has reached/is on the music video chart.I chose these colours for my logo because it is how I imagined it and I chose to use music notes because it represents music. The reason why chose the name Music Central because I thought it would be a good idea and would be related to music I was going to call Hip-Hop Central but I didn't think it will be relevant or good enough. The word 'Music'' means that it will be relevant to the good sound and quality of the latest music out this month and the word 'Central' would be the only area that the show will be filmed and will represent the greatest work in music. It will also be in the middle of the studio floor because the definition of central means the middle of something.

Content ideas

For my show I am going to have quizzes aimed at the guest/celebrities, music chart of the latest music videos the 3 music videos I am going to use is Kori's group video, Darren's group video and Rashaan's group video. There will be interviews with the celebrities a fire round and after that I'm going to have a dance performance to end the show where the celebrities have to a dance off against one of the presenters to a song of their choice. This will appeal to the audience because some of them would like dance or seeing their celebrities doing silly things. Another reason why this would appeal to the audience is because they would want/like to be entertained.

Running order

  • 10:00-10:02 Opening of the show ending with the logo
  • 10:02-10:04 Presenter introducing himself
  • 10:05-10:07 Introduction of two celebrities
  • 10:10-10:25 Music chart of the 3 chosen music videos
  • 10:25-10:28 Interview with the directors
  • 10:28-10:30  Question fire round
  • 10:30-10.32 2 minute commercial break
  • 10:32-10:33 Celebrities having an interview
  • 10.33-10:36  The celebrities having a 60 second quiz related to music
  • 10:36 10.38 Celebrity dance off
My celebrities in my show are going to be Nicole and Brandon because I thought they would play a perfect part as two famous celebrities. My prerecorded moment is going to be in the 2 minute commercial break where it will play a trainers advert that will help you run faster.

Studio design

I would want my studio to have a lively feel because it is going to have a colorful, entertaining and energetic type of vibe. The studio set up will be a bit similar to Friday download except there will be seats on stage instead of people standing up. There will be lights, cameras and green screen. For my show I am going to have a celebrity entrance so when the celebrities arrive they enter the front door of the studio. The studio is going to have bright and colorful lights and the interview lounge is going to have a green screen of a giant TV screen showing the 3 chosen music videos and while it's not playing it will be showing the logo title of the show.

Sketch of background

The background I'm gong to use is the title logo of the TV programme in the back drop of the studio.I am going to use this because it represents the name of the show. This could appeal to the audience because they might like the design of the title logo. For the logo I am going to have a sky blue background with the letters in yellow/gold. The logo will be showing music notes in the music notes in the letters to represent the name 'Music Central'. This can relate to the audience because not that they could be into urban music but they might see it as a unique idea I came up with.

Visual style

For my visual style I am going to use an energetic type of vibe and mood. The graphics I will be using to portray this is a colorful logo because coluorful images and design describes the energetic vibe of the TV programme. I am also going use the camera in a fast pace movement when camera is going to be showing as long-shot of the two presenters then it's zooms in quickly into a close up then zoom out into a mid-shot. The studio set is going to be colorful and quirky because I would want my design to look interesting and unique. I am also going to be using fast pace editing switching camera shots quickly while using different angles.

Presentation style
For the presentation style I am going to have two presenters for my TV program because 1) I thought it would be a good idea 2) I thought that two presenters are better than one and 3) it can sometimes be tiring for one presenter plus I thought that it was a good idea and I also thought that one presenter can do one half of the show and the other can do the other half.
This is the type of clothes my presenters will be wearing. The reason why I would want my presenters to wear this because I would want their clothing to be related to music and some of the one or two celebrities would be wearing this type of fashion. This could even relate to the audience because they might like or would want to wear this type of clothing. For my presenters I would be choosing Yanick and Conner as my presenters because find them as good speakers in front of the camera. Their mode of address is going to be energetic because that way they will represent the mood of the show being lively and energetic. I would also want their personality to be lively and colourful because since the title of the show was going to be colourful and the show itself was going lively and energetic I thought the presenters should have a lively colourful personality to go with it. This could relate to the audience because they might also have lively, energetic and colourful personality.

Multi camera format

Live Sports

Time: 18:00 - 21:00

Practical Reasons

Coverage of Action
Multi-camera is used for live sports so they can get every detail of what's happening in the basketball match. for example at 18:00 it shows a high angle of the court then at 18:10 it shows a mid-shot of one of the basketball players. This important because there is a lot going on at the same time and it is important that the viewer doesn't miss any of the action in the basketball match.

Constraints of Location
They also show multi-camera for this type of genre because it is a large basketball court where they need cameras in every corner. This can be seen at 18:05 where it shows a high angle shot of the basketball court and at 18:10 showing a long-shot of one of the basketball players. It's important to use multi-camera in a large arena or court because one camera won't be able to show the whole size of the basketball court.

Aesthetic Reasons

Maintaining the Viewers Interest
Maintaining the viewer's interest is shown at 18:11 where it shows the player's reaction by using a close up while having the camera following him. This allows the viewer to understand how players is feeling by filming his facial expressions which makes it more interesting to watch.

Communicating Meaning
The multi-camera also communicates meaning to the viewer at 18:51 by showing a zoomed in close up of one of the players swapping places with one of the other players in the team. This is important to the viewer so they can understand what is going on and that it's more entertaining.

Concerts

Time: 4:00 - 7:00

For example at 4:00 it shows a long-shot of Micheal Jackson on stage then at 4:06 it cuts to a mid-shot and then quickly cuts back to a long shot. This is important because this way they can get different shot types and angles on Michael's movements and facial expressions

Maintaining the audience's interest is important because otherwise it will be boring and no one would watch.

Communicating Meaning
This is important because if this concert was to be shown on TV and if it wasn't multi-camera then the viewers wouldn't be able to understand what's going on. An example of this is shown at 6:00 to 6:36 where the camera shows a mid-shot of Michael Jackson and cuts to a long-shot of the audience while talking to them to show their reaction. This communicates meaning to the viewer because it shows the audience reaction.

Practical Reasons

Multi-Camera Simultaneous Recording of action
One of the practical reasons why we use multi-camera is because we can get spot of the action happening just because something unexpected happens so this if something unexpected was to happen while filming live then it would all be recorded. This would happen at 4:21 where one of the guests on the show started shouting and raising her voice at the audience. This is seen at 1:17 where it shows a mid-shot of Usher talking to Bow Wow in an interview. This is important because if there wasn't a camera there to film all of that detail or action then the audience wouldn't be able to catch, see or understand it due to the camera not being there to film it. It is also important to catch all the little detail such as body language, facial expressions and different shot types so that everything can be understood.
